Eileen MarchI was born and raised in Canmore, AB and took several detours before embarking on the journey towards becoming a midwife. My mother instilled in me an appreciation for the power of birth early in life, however it was while in a café in Bangkok, reading The Birth House by Amy McKay that something clicked inside and I knew where
my life must take me.

I have travelled extensively through Asia for pleasure as well as for school. My first degree in Religious Studies from the University of Calgary took me to India for a semester, an experience that was both challenging and immensely rewarding. I was on the cusp of entering the accelerated nursing program at the University of Calgary when I found out about Mount Royal University’s midwifery program and decided to apply. Getting the phone call telling me I had been accepted was one of the most exciting days of my life. Graduating from this intensive program has prepared me to provide women with sensitive and comprehensive, woman centered care.

Pregnancy and birth are such powerful and transformative experiences in a woman’s life and I strongly believe that all women shoul
d be empowered to take control of their own journeys. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to help support, inform, and care for women as they move through pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

It is with great excitement that I look forward to working alongside the amazing midwives at the Calgary Midwives Collective in the years to come.
